Why was Gamechecker built?
Shopping for retro games in the Netherlands often means the same thing: open five tabs, compare prices manually, forget which titles you already own, and hope you don't overpay. Many webshops have great inventory, but nobody shows the full picture in one overview.
Gamechecker was built so collectors can quickly see which games are available, where they're cheapest (including an estimate of shipping costs), and which titles they're still missing from their collection.
The site is for anyone who buys or collects retro games — from casual buyers to dedicated collectors. Gamechecker doesn't sell anything itself; we only help you make better choices before you visit a webshop.

What is Gamechecker?
Gamechecker is an independent price comparison service for retro video games. We collect publicly available product information from Dutch webshops and display it clearly per platform, so you can see at a glance which titles are available and at what price.
With a free account you can also track your own collection, build a wishlist and filter games you don't have yet.
Our mission
Finding and comparing retro games takes time — especially when browsing multiple webshops. Gamechecker brings that inventory together in one place so you can make informed choices without searching dozens of sites yourself.
How it works
- Collect — we periodically fetch product and price information from partner Dutch webshops.
- Merge — the same game from different webshops becomes one title, linked to the correct platform.
- Compare — see per game which shops offer it, including price and availability.
- Manage — with an account you track your collection and wishlist and see which games you're missing.
Who's behind it?
Gamechecker was built by a retro game collector in the Netherlands. Not a big company — just a tool I wanted for comparing webshops, tracking my collection and spotting deals. Feedback and bug reports are welcome via contact.
Webshops
We currently track 25 webshops with retro games. Gamechecker is not a webshop itself: purchases are always made directly with the relevant store. See our Disclaimer for more on prices and availability.
Sources
We combine a few specialized sources instead of one all-in-one dataset:
- Redump/No-Intro — disc identity and region (PAL/NTSC-U/NTSC-J/Asia/World)
- IGDB — English titles, cover art, summaries and genres
- TheGamesDB — retail compilations/packs missing from Redump and IGDB
- Webshop scrapers — current prices, stock and condition
Transparency
We fetch price information respectfully from webshops. More details for shop owners are in our Disclaimer.
